DEALING WITH PEER PRESSURE

Peers mean people who are in my age like my classmates, in addition, peer pressure is when group of people or person to encourage you to act and do something in certain way. As well as, it could influence you in both positive and negative ways.

Peers can influence us positively for example: it could be that one student in your science class taught you an easy way to remember the planets in the solar system, someone on the soccer team taught you a cool trick with the ball or you might admire a friend who is always a good at math and try to be more like him or her.

In addition, peers can influence us negatively for example: a few student in school might try to get you to cut class with them or a kid in the neighborhood might want you to shoplift with him.

People give into peer pressure because they want to fit in, be liked, or they worry that other people might make fun of them if they don't belong to any group and they want to try things they have it done before or try it before.

It's not easy to say no to peer pressure, but you can do it by being aware about your own beliefs and feelings, as well as, knowing what is right and wrong. In addition, self-confidence can help you to stand firmly.

If you find that handling peer pressure it's difficult go and talk to someone who you trust such as: your parent, your teacher, or your school counselor.
