REFLECTION 1
Stereotype is the unfairly thought about people or specific things with a particular characteristic that may or may not perceive accurate (Stereotype). I have been in many different situations where I felt that I stereotyped by many people around me.
As a dreamer girl, action and adventure lover I always thought about my dream car. When I ever thought about having my own car I was only thinking about sports car, which this type of cars can satisfy me because they considered as: quick response, easy maneuverability and high-speed driving. But, the shocking part was when I got my license my parents didn’t agree to buy for me this type of car by saying: “Sports car are made for male not for a female” I was like why they limited these type of cars for male only and why they think that female are not good at driving especially when it’s come to speed. And it’s all begin when one female drove a sports car and she can't control the high speed of the car, which that led to a big accident. Otherwise, when a male drove the same sport car with the same speed he was able to control everything. So, after that many people think that female are not capable to drive these types of car, which is something wrong and you can’t judge on all people base on one person.
In addition, I felt that I am stereotyped again when I apply to work in my favorite store, which is Apple. So, I get all my documents and everything they want for the interview. Their interview has a couple of stages in different days. So, I went to through all their interview stages and they were happy because I was the only Emirati who reach to the final stages where that really made me more excited to work with them. But, after the final interview stage they didn’t accept me because I am Emirati so they thought that I would be lazy, late for work and I will not ware the uniform and they rejected me based on that reasons. When I asked them for clarification of rejecting me they answered that all Emirati are: lazy, late for work, they will not ware a uniform and they want to be mangers only. I replay that you can’t judge on me based on your own way of thinking of Emirati, which you can judge all Emirati people based on two or three other Emiratis that you have worked with before.
At the end, after I want thought several experiences where I felt I was stereotyped I try my best to not judge on all people or things because one or two people do it to me or in front of me.
